Crevice Corrosion Testing
Crevice corrosion refers to a kind of local corrosion when the migration of medium is blocked in the narrow gap between metal and metal and between metal and non-metal in the presence of electrolyte solution. Holes, gasket contact surface, lap joint, sediment, fastener crevice are the places where crevice corrosion often occurs. All metals that rely on oxide film or passivation layer to resist corrosion are particularly prone to this kind of corrosion. Crevice corrosion occurs in many media, especially in oxygen-containing media. Crevice corrosion is also a kind of electrochemical corrosion. The crevice corrosion will lead to the decrease of the strength of the parts, and the matching degree will become worse. The increase of the volume of corrosion products in the crevice will cause local additional stress, which not only makes assembly difficult, but also reduces the bearing capacity of components. T,C&A Lab provides you with crevice corrosion tests for stainless steel/alloy and metal products used in energy, aerospace, infrastructure, environment and industry to test the crevice corrosion resistance of the product.
