Galvanic Corrosion Testing
Galvanic corrosion, also known as contact corrosion, is electrochemical corrosion caused by two different metals in contact with each other while being in the electrolyte. Since they constitute a spontaneous battery, it is the more active and anode metal that is corroded. For example, aluminum alloys and titanium alloys are widely used as structural materials for aircraft and ships because of their low density, high specific strength, and high specific rigidity. In the actual application process, many aluminum/titanium alloy heterogeneous metal contact structures are formed. Among these structural parts, the aluminum alloy in contact with the titanium alloy has a more negative electrode potential that causes serious galvanic corrosion at the contact interface, which brings safety hazards to the normal driving of the equipment. T,C&A Lab provides you with professional galvanic corrosion testing services according to ISO, ASTM, etc. industry standards. We can provide you with the necessary data on how your materials and components are likely to perform when deployed in the field, to ensure they are always of a high quality and are safe, compliant and ultimately fit for purpose.
